Surrogate Author by santosh Avvannavar and Shilpa Patil: Book Review

The corner tag of the book says ' To Aspiring Authors'.
And that says it all!

If you've been brooding over a plot or a concept to make a book out of it, and you seem to move nowhere, you are sure to delight in
Surrogate Author.

If bollywood movies like Devdas, Sholay and DDLJ recharge your soul,
you are sure to have a heart full of laughter with
Surrogate Author.

Yes! It's that rare combo of a serious career put in a LOL way!

In the introduction, author Santosh says "Good authors are those who write and basically not a businessman." Though put simply, this statement carries a deeper insight. It cannot be denied that to make a career out of writing is a challenging art for authors.

Here is our Authdas! You guessed it right, the author form of Devdas is returning back from London in hopes to continue his childhood dream book, Paro. However, after what happens at Fantasy Mohini's birthday party, Paro seems distant to Authdas. In a rage, he leaves home and accidentally lands at the house of Chandramukhi, the inspiration. By the time, he goes back to Paru, she's already handed over to another author. At the end of a bollywood climax, Authdas wins over Paro which becomes a best-selling book and Authdas, a famous author.

The content of the book should be imaginable now. The difficulties and distracting temptations that an aspiring author faces while preparing his first manuscript is sculpted through popular bollywood characters. The reader would have to focus on two parallel plots from one narration - one, the fictional story of Devdas and two, the abstract tale of Authdas. One can sync well with the authors' brain waves only when they completely relate the abstract take from the main content.

On a lighter note, if the reader knows the twists of all the movies the book is based on, then Surrogate Author is a great fun. The scene of the movie the narration is pointing to will appear on the mental screen and matching the two will definitely make one smile if not a shower of laughter.

Beyond the main plot, the last few pages of the book include a brief guide to writers-to-be. Manuscript ideas, manuscript keywords and sample manuscript writing tools are shared for the benefit of a newbie author.

Surrogate Author is a perfect entertainment for leisure reads and travels. It's just a little bigger than a pocket-size book and wouldn't take more than a few minutes for any kind of a reader to put it down.

About the Book

Who is Authdas?

I wondered how difficult it is for a woman to be a surrogate mother irrespective of the objective. Writing few books have taught - true Devdas are authors. If authors' adopt similar concept of surrogacy than book can evolve. We have many examples to quote, Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and others that symbolise the surrogacy of continue doing movie irrespective of critics, and box office result. Authdas is Author das! Plot of Authdas character: I taught if Authdas (booklorn -book sick) as Devdas (lovelorn -love sick), whose love is write a novel, Paro. Authdas needs some inspiration to write Paro and if that inspiration was Chandramukhi, how the story would be?

Story of Surrogate Author: Keeping the above plot, I looked into various movies - few movies that often people continue to enjoy are Devdas, Sholay and DDLJ. Keep those baseline into mind Surrogate Author book was written. The book is inline with Devdas. I assume that people, who love devdas would perhaps relate and link to Authdas. I thank Sanjay Leela Bhansali for giving an visually stunning movie, Devdas.
